The aims of this two day practical workshop are to provide participants with: access to project management terminology; an understanding of the structure and processes to follow to manage projects of various sizes and importance successfully; practice at using some of the project management tools and techniques; and confidence to tackle the project manager’s role.

Workshop Objectives:

On completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the overall structure of an effectively managed project
  • Explain the purpose and format of the business case
  • Utilise a variety of tools to help define a project so that it may be communicated to others
  • Define project specific objectives
  • Plan the activities required to achieve the objectives
  • Utilise a variety of ways of task estimating
  • Develop project schedules, communication plans and quality plans
  • Use dependency charts and critical path analysis to plan and monitor progress of a project
  • Carry out both a risk and opportunity analysis
  • Identify what elements of a project to monitor during the implementation phase and how
  • Sustain commitment of the project team
  • Evaluate the success of the project and conduct a post project review.
