Business Process Auditing

  4 Days

Overview:

As businesses grow and evolve to meet the ever changing needs of their customers and other stakeholders, new business processes and practices are introduced, often in a unplanned way. Over time, with constant minor 'improvements' to existing processes, they become inefficient, ineffective and uneconomic to operate. Periodic review is therefore essential if they are going to continue to serve our needs and those of our customers. The problem facing organisations is, "Where do we start?". The answer is with a structured series of audits focussing on critical processes with the principal purpose of evaluating their economy, efficiency and effectiveness.

This course aims to give participants an understanding of process auditing and its use as a tool for business improvement and the communication of best practice. The course illustrates the techniques of business process auditing through both a case study and a 'live' audit exercise conducted at the client's premises which provides participants both with practical experience and confidence in use of the technique.

The course is available in a standard format or as an ILM endorsed course. The ILM endorsed course includes participant assessment and leads to the attainment of an ILM Endorsed Award signifying that the participant has met the required standards of performance.

Candidates registered on the ILM endorsed programme are automatically offered one year's free studying membership with ILM. Benefits to studying members include access to a host of online resources including: Edge magazine on-line, resource centre, articles on key management skills, reading lists, study guides, career development services, on-line assessment of team leading skills and advice on presenting a professional image. Further details can be found at www.i-l-m.com.

This course has been used by numerous Fire and Rescue Services throughout England, to help prepare their audit teams for conducting internal audits that support best value reviews and comprehensive performance assessment. The principles taught on the course can be applied to operational assessments.
